A cash advance is an advance payment for an expense that is expected to be incurred in the future.
Depending on your company policy, you may be able to create a cash advance request, in which case you may be able to have it approved and paid before you incur the expense.
Creating a Cash Advance Request
If you are able to create cash advance requests, you see the New Request option on your Home page in the Expense tool:
You also have a Cash Advances tab on the navigation bar, from where you can begin to create a request by clicking the Create a Cash Advance Request button.
The Create a Cash Advance Request form is displayed:
Complete the fields as shown in the next table, then click Create.
Field | Description |

name |
Shows your name by default. If you are able to create requests on behalf of others, you can choose a name from the drop-down list. |
Description |
(mandatory) A brief description of the request, e.g. "Trip to Mongolia". |
Purpose |
(mandatory) Indicate the reason for the request, e.g. "No banks nearby". |
Amount |
(mandatory) The amount requested, in the currency indicated in the adjacent field. |
currency |
Initially the currency shown is the one set for you in My Profile. You can click this field and choose a different currency. |
Payment method |
(mandatory) Choose from the list to show how you would like the advance to be paid, e.g. bank transfer, cash, bank deposit or cheque. |
Requested date |
(mandatory) The date by which you need the advance to be paid. |
