Searching for Trains

You can search for trains from either the Home tab or the Plan a Trip tab.

On the Home tab, the search options aren’t displayed by default, but you can click to expand the display.

With trains, you can search for these types of journey:

round-trip
one-way

Eurostar journeys booked from the UK are handled in the Travel tool as if they were flights. To search for Eurostar trains in these cases, select Flights or Flights/Trains and use the procedure for Round-Trip and One-Way Journeys.

Use these cabin classes:

To search for trains:

On the Home or Plan a Trip tab, click Trains or Flights/Trains.

Click Round-trip or One-way as required.

In the From field, start typing the name of your starting point and either select it, or choose the station name you want from the list if displayed.

In the To field, do the same for your destination.

In the Departure fields, set the date and preferred time of departure.

For:

a round-trip journey, set the date and preferred time of return in the Return field.
a one-way journey, continue from the next step.

Set the search options:

For Itinerary, choose the route you want to take, from:
- only direct trains
- via station: type the name of an intermediate point in your journey, and either select it or choose the station name you want from the list if displayed.
- no preference
For a round-trip journey, if you want to start or finish at different stations and this feature is available, select the I need to take a different return journey box (you’ll be able to set this up on the next screen).
For Cabin class, select the class of ticket you want.
If you see an Age field, select an option from the list.
If you see the Travel pass option, choose one from the list, making sure that it agrees with the value in the Age field.
If you see a Promotion code field, enter a promotional code if you have been given one. Doing so may give you access to special promotional fares from the train company.

Click Search.

If you selected the I need to take a different return journey box, you can:

choose your departure and arrival stations and click Confirm the selection.
click Modify search to go back to the previous screen.

When the search results are displayed, continue from Viewing the Search Results for Flights and Trains.
