What is 1-Click Search?
With 1-Click Search, a single click gives you the available fares for round-trip air or rail combinations matching your search criteria and complying with the travel policy of your company.
For a one-way journey, 1-Click Search is the only option.
For a round-trip journey, 1-Click Search is the default, but if you select the Flights search option (not the Flights Or Trains option) on the Home or Plan a Trip tabs, you can choose Flight-by-Flight search.
What is Flight-by-Flight Search?
The Flight-by-Flight search option shows outbound and return flights on separate pages, giving you the flexibility to build your own combination of flights and classes.
To use Flight-by-Flight search, select the Flights search option (not the Flights/Trains option) on the Home or Plan a Trip tabs. Complete the search details and click Flight-by-flight search.
Your flight choices are initially shown without fare details; these are added when you have made your selections. At this point, the Travel tool also searches for alternative options with a lower fare so you can make the best decision.
Can I see if someone else is taking a similar trip?
Yes, the trip sharing feature shows you if someone else from your organisation has booked the same air, rail or rental car journey as one that you are planning.
This feature offers the advantages of:
-
potential cost savings by sharing a taxi or rental car for part of the trip
-
business socialising, making use of otherwise "dead" time in strengthening ties within and across departments
Is it possible to be seated next to my colleague?
Yes. If you and your colleague have their tickets booked at the same time (see Multi-Traveller Trips), you are automatically seated next to your colleague where possible.
Otherwise, if a colleague is travelling on the same service and you know their seat number, you may be able to request a seat next to them, depending on the service, supplier and availability. See Selecting a Seat.
How can I find out the aircraft type for my flight?
The aircraft type is shown in the search results for a flight:
You can also find this information from the list of travel plans in the My Trips tab, by clicking the trip name.
Where can I see the baggage allowance for my flight?
The search results page shows how many bags, if any, you can check in free of charge for each flight - see Viewing the Baggage Allowance for Flights.
Depending on the carrier and the fare, you may be able to purchase additional checked-in baggage - see Requesting Additional Services.
What is ESTA?
The Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) is an automated system operated by the US government to provide authorisation for travellers wishing to travel to the USA under the Visa Waiver Program (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_Waiver_Program).
If you are a citizen or national of a country enrolled in the Visa Waiver Program, you need to obtain an electronic travel authorization to the USA at least 72 hours before your departure to any US destination.
If you are eligible for the Visa Waiver Program and you plan a trip to the USA using the Travel tool, when you add a relevant selection to the My Selection tab you see a message containing a link to register online for ESTA.
What is APIS?
Advance Passenger Information System (APIS) is a computerised information system established by the US government to provide immigration officers with advance information about passengers and crew members on flights to and from certain countries.
If your flight requires this information, you see a message to this effect on the reservation screen, where you can enter the details. For more information, see Entering Advance Passenger Information (APIS).
